U Gotta Love It!

You know usually I'm not huge fan of running in cold weather like this. Last year I'd be snuggled in my warm blanky hibernating from all this cold stuff...I just wasn't a fan, and who could blame me! Well so far early into this wintery season I have decided to take the artic plunge and run with frost forming on my eyebrows, my face, and hat. U gotta love looking like a ice cold Frosty, and receiving weird looks from people thinking your nuts for just being out there! So far I'm enjoying it. Rick… Continue

Run While You Can....

Last tuesday Chris Brandt and I ran the Sheyenne trails. Beautiful day and a good friend to share the run with. For those of you that don't know we do have some wonderful scenic trails close to home. The Sheyenne trails are located about 38 miles south of Fargo, just a few miles south of Kindred. You run well groomed trails through grasslands which allows farmers to graze their cattle on Federal land. Chris and I had to carefully maneuver around some jittery cattle a couple of times but it was a… Continue

Hey Joel, congratulations on running AND finishing the ultramarathon! It was fun travelling and running with you, even if Tim kicked our butts! I'm looking forwards to another one. Lets go!

Joel, good job on the Ultra. I bet your legs feel broken, brain a little mushy, but spirit's probably on overdrive. Talk to you soon.

Hey Joel, hope the taper is going well. How are those movies? Hope to see you at wine night ... downtown is going to be pretty busy Thursday night. I hear they're handing out free beer, too, as part of the big flood party and concerts on Broadway.

Thanks for your thoughts on my senior picture, Buddy. I have Sally to thank for that pic, she took it while we were in Cali for the marathon. We both posed for our senior pics that day...so hold tight for one of Sally to surface as well.

Thanks for the note, Joel. I'm glad we could become friends and I'm looking forward to more runs in the hills. You've had some solid training and are going to rock at the Fargo marathon. I'm looking forward to hearing the details. Oh, and I'll probably be heading to that trail run in Itasca too - you and Tim can buzz over afterward to my boat and we can hang out on Leech Lake. See you Tuesday!

Thanks for reading and responding! I would be honored to have you as a partner in my next trail run. As of now, I'm looking at a run at Itasca State Park in August, but more deliberately at the Wild Duluth 50k in October. I believe that it's the 17th of October. It's a point-to-point and I believe it's a bit milder on terrain and trails than the one I participated in in Wisconsin. I'm pleased that I'm pusing my limits and exploring new aspects of my life and health that I never thought I would ever do years ago. However, it's humbling and a bit disappointing to not finish a run. In the total scheme of life, it's only a run. I learned a great deal from participating in it. We'll stay in contact about the trail run. Again, I would be honored to have your as a training and running partner!
