Well, the morning of the triathlon had arrived. I rolled out of bed around 5am and was surprisingly calm. I met up with my crew, loaded the bikes, and headed to Detroit Lakes.
Josie and I tried to keep our nerves at bay by discussing silly topics and giggling frequently, to Eric's dismay. But when we rolled into the parking lot..woah. It became real. My Own Miracle Mile

I had a chance to get one last swim in before this triathlon thing on Saturday. Thursday evening Todd, Jason, and I went to Island Park Pool (or as Josie and I like to say "IP SQUARED"). There were plenty of families taking advantage of the pool, so I had to enter the acutal lap swim area... where the "real" swimmers go.

Gaining ground...or water... and finding a rhythm.

Summer is finally here, which made my swim at the Island Park Pool this noon even better. At least I can stay cool while I continue on my swimming adventure. There sure were plenty of people taking advantage of the pool.

Today, the first 400 meters were tough. I took plenty of breaks between "laps"... but as I continued to swim, I found a 'rhythm' (...who could ask for anything more!)... and once again found myself comparing running and swimming. Just as in running, it takes a bit to "warm up".… Continue

Going the Distance, With a Little Help from my Friends

Well, one week to go until the tri. After my "swim" in open water, I figure I better swim as much as possible between now and Saturday. I know that I'm not going to perfect my stroke (I'm just happy to achieve forward motion), but I need to spend as much time in the water as possible (but not too much, I don't want prune-hands) in order to feel less anxiety about the swim.

Open water, weeds, and la la la loooons!

So far, I have resolved to compete (uh-hum, I mean complete...) this triathalon, come hell or high water. But after swimming in high water, I have to say hell looks kinda pleasant.

Eric, Shannon, Kelly, Jason, Todd and I went camping at Itasca this weekend. A rainy weekend, but fun... and hey, maybe being exposed to water, even in droplet form would help my swim.
